Pastor's Pen Church: Commandment or Convenience? Hebrews 10:25 "Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching." Many today are allowing secular pursuits, busy schedules and physical feelings to turn Church into an option rather than an obligation. When church is viewed as a convenience instead of a commandment, it reveals a spiritual priority problem that church has become less important than other things. Many only go to church "if they feel like it" or "if they get time" or "if it doesn't interfere with other things." Someone said, "that your spirituality can be measured by what it takes to keep you from church." Both God and the devil knows how important church is to the believer and the work of God, thus God commands it and Satan complicates it. It's up to you which one will win or carry out their will. Many claim to have a salvation that won't even take them to church, and it may not take them to heaven either. Can one have a relationship to the head and not have with the body? No! *As the members of your body need each other even so the church needs you and you need the church! "...Christ also loved the church and gave himself for it." Ephesians 5:25b. Then the least we can do is to love, attend and support the church! - Pastor Barry Rackley www.rbtonline.org
