Halloween: Should Christians take part? Halloween themes are death, sacrifices and graveyards, haunted houses, ghosts, goblins, demons, the devil, skeletons, superstitions, fear, witches, bats (creatures of the night), vampires, darkness, and disguised identity. None of these things should be a part of the Christians life. No doubt Halloween is the devil's biggest night of the year. Can you see Christ going through a haunted house or dressing up like a vampire or witch? No, No, and No! Neither should Christians; for we all are to practice biblical separation from this, “… for what communication hath light with darkness?” 2 Corinthians 6:14c. Born again people are “the children of the light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night nor of darkness.” 1 Thessalonians 5:5. We’ve been brought out of darkness into light and from death into life. Don’t think that it is just a little innocent fun time of dressing up and getting candy, no harm done. Satan has always made his work seem innocent, as he did with Eve in the garden. He told her of all the treats she would get, but she found out, as have multitudes since, that she had been ticked. Parents teach your children the truth and to “Abstain from all appearance of evil.” 1 Thessalonians 5:22. And that Jesus is truthful about His treats and will never trick anyone. - Pastor Barry Rackley www.rbtonline.org
